I’m was really hoping that 21 Jump Street would be funny.  And it was.  It was super funny.  But I expected as much.  I had faith in the screenwriter, Michael Bacall, who co-wrote Scott Pilgrim with Edgar Wright, was one of the Basterds in Inglorious Basterds, and was pretty funny as a guest on a recent episode of Doug Loves Movies.  That’s a pretty strong resume in my opinion.  The directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, worked on Clone High (one of the greatest cartoon series of all time) and How I Met Your Mother.  Awesome credentials, yes?  And, as much as I fight it, I can’t help but love Jonah Hill.  He just has such impecable comedic timing.  He can make even the most mediocre of material pretty hilarious with his delivery (see Allen Gregory).  We’ll get to Channing Tatum later.
