The Extremely Confusing & Incredibly Strange Oscars

I’m not really going to do a post about my Oscar thoughts.  Or am I?  I guess I haven’t really decided, even though I am currently typing.  Yes, I am annoyed by some of the snubs (Sir Gosling; Albert Brooks; 50/50; et al).  Yes, I am also pleased by some of the surprises (Bridesmaids; Gary Oldman, finally!).  And, of course, I’m very confused by some of the more, let’s call them interesting, choices the Academy made.  I just don’t feel like I need to make the same comments every other idiot with an internet connection and the ability to find keys on a keyboard is going to be making over the next month.  I might write more on the Oscars later, perhaps even dedicating a post to who I want to take home a statue this year.  But for now, I have but one request of you, Academy members (because I assume that only Academy members read this blog). I need you to look into these baby blues and explain, TO HIS FACE, why he wasn’t nominated.  You owe him that much.  While you do that, I’ll be trying to convince myself to see Hugo, War Horse, and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close while I wait for Tree of Life to arrive from Netflix.

P.S. I’m going to try to dial it down on my Gosling mania as this blog progresses as I’m pretty sure there are enough Tumblrs that express the breadth our (our = every man, woman and child on earth with a functioning libido) undying devotion to the former Mouseketeer.  But I just couldn’t resist.
